REVIEW BY BOOSTER COLA (SPENCER H.)

A couple months ago when I had heard that DC had announced that Harley Quinn would get her own series, truthfully, I was pissed! Not for the blatant over-saturation a book would like this would undoubtedly induce, because I like Harley, but anger towards DC for the lack of Booster Gold! That's another blog entirely. But, the silver lining for a new title lacking BG, would be the creator team combo of Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti. These two lovebirds have proved time and time again that their collaborations are golden(see Power Girl #1-12 & The Pro). This book is highlighting their team effort as a writing duo with a new artist taking the workload(Chad Hardin) on the following issues. I gotta say, Jimmy and Amanda deliver a clever, fun, and hilarious romp through each artists adaptation of the part-time villainess.

Harley's story here is rather interesting.  Her romp through each artists imagination is accompanied by the fourth wall breaking Jimmy, Amanda, and their scrutinizing commentary of events. Harley's journey encompasses many twisted and askew versions of herself, but some great ones include; a Jaeger attack-robo-Harley, equipped with throwing up action on Shea(former) Stadium via Tony S. Daniel(Superman/Wonder Woman), a great Jim Lee(Superman Unchained) joke, a classic Bruce Timm(Batman: The Animated Series) scene, a funny Tiny Titans book-bomb, and more all for under three bucks! Jimmy and Amanda redefined value with the talent they treated us to and for that I am grateful. I would love to see a directors cut of this issue with more artists' commissions and commentary from the writing duo.

There really isn't many negatives going for this book at all. All of the funny Easter eggs and little nods will keep this title fresh and enjoyable. Fantastic art mixed with a great sense of humor from the industries' best, make this title a must buy! I highly recommend this book and give Harley Quinn #0 a 5 out of 5!

Pick this issue up along with Jimmy Palmiotti's other titles including; Batwing, All Star Western, Painkiller Jane, & Daredevil Dark Nights!
